Privacy, in plain words
DejaWhere knows where you've been. That's exactly why it's built so that nobody else does, unless you both say so.
Your photos never leave your phone
We read only when and where each photo was taken, on your device. The photos themselves stay put.
Nothing is shared without two yeses
A comparison runs only after you both approve, and every “check again” needs a fresh yes.
People only ever see “Us”
Nobody can browse your personal timeline. They see the moments you share, and nothing else.
Private places stay private
The places you live, work and keep to yourself are never shown to anyone. Neither is anything from today.
Encrypted with a key that's yours
The places and times we work out are encrypted with a key that belongs to you alone. Delete your account and it's gone.
We never sell where you've been
No public profiles, no followers, no feed. Free-tier ads are never based on who you are or where you've been.
What stays on your phone
- Your photos, and everything inside them
- Your calendar events
- Your location history and social media export files
- Your contacts (only one-way codes are used to find friends)
What we keep, encrypted
- The places and times we worked out, and how sure we are
- The title of a calendar event that goes with a place
- Your account: name, email and a verified phone number
What we never do
- Sell or rent where you've been
- Show your personal timeline to anyone
- Show anything from today
- Run a comparison without both of you saying yes
